So today I am wearing a khanga ( a beautiful piece of fabric commonly associated with the coastal Swahili culture in Kenya) in the best way I know how, I love how the gathers bulge out right below the thin slimming waistband giving an illusion of a wider bottom ☺☺ Given that is is the Ramadan season what better time to talk about diets?

About 30 days ago I made a life changing decision....refer to Ezil's Vegan Boot Camp
This was my experience:

Week 1;

I finally understand why there not so may vegans in Kenya despite the fact that a huge number would love to try it out for its supposed benefits.

I have been experimenting so much in the kitchen lately, making all sorts of delicacies. however given that most of my days are spent in the CBD I have developed a new attachment to the java fruit salad. It would be nice to be able to grab a vegan pizza or burger but I cant even get vegan cheese at Nakumatt. Sucks.

Dear Subway and Pizza inn....it wouldn't hurt for you include a new vegan sandwich/pizza to your menu in fact it would add you one more customer or more. I have Recipes Call me ☺please!!

Lemon water is an amazing daily detox, I take a huge mug of it every morning and 30mins before bed and it leaves me with this great refreshing felling every time.My stomach feels lighter and I have become very observant of what I eat. Lord help me, I don't know how long I can last without milk.

For some reason I also feel the need to workout and I have a lot more energy, I guess that has something to do with the fact that I am not on a cheese and sugar diet anymore ☺☺ don't be fooled though I talked Sheyz into making me vegan Cupcakes but please someone drag me to the gym..... I lack the will power to do this alone. I am still  quite active at night..., its about time I learned how to sleep for more than 6hrs a night.

Week 2;

Sosi soya...who would have thought this would become my go to meal!! lately my snacks ( for those days when cooking becomes such a daunting task) is Sosi Soya meat chunks ( also has chicken flavor, my favorite.) and Indomie that cooks for about 3 minutes or you could just soak it in hot hot water for about 5 minutes or less,add the spices and enjoy your meal.

I have been occupied with work and I am already so used to the diet it feels like I have been at this forever. You know how you think you just cant live without eating meat coz ..its you know..meat?..well I am proof that you can....its been just a week and even the smell of my moms chicken Biriani has no effect on me whatsoever. water has also very easily become a staple in my life its like every time I am about to grab a snack I reach out for a glass of water instead and suddenly I am quite full and could do without the snack, unless that snack is a carrot or an Apple.

Did you know it only takes about 13 peanuts to satisfy you when you are hungry? I also just found out from Marion. It actually works but I was too stubborn to admit it at first.

There is something about having your diet all figured out that makes you want to have your whole life all figured out. for some weird reason I have been thinking through a lot of the choices I make, I am no longer as irrational as I used to be and iI am also realizing how waking up at 5am to say a prayer gives you a better start of the day as compared to waking up at 5am to go for a jog, though you could also do both. why am I blaming this on the diet....well not only am I reading all ingredients before I buy anything from the supermarket or googling recipes that adhere to my diet I am also so keen on what I feed my mind, so its a psychological influence the diet has on me.

Week 3;

I HAVE LOST 5KGs.... 5 effing KGs
last week I had lost 3kgs, and I did not seem so keen on it but 5.....I am happy the diet works but I don't think that works in my favor. But at least now we know that if you want to loose weight fast a Vegan diet is just the way to go. I actually don't think I look skinnier but my mom thinks I look like I have lost a lot of weight ( which I have, I'm just not seeing it.)

I must say I never thought it would be possible to get a flatter tummy than what I had initially, but my stomach actually caved in slightly and no you can not see any bones, and no I have not been starving myself in fact I might just be eating more than I used to, though now I'm eating right.

This having been my birthday week, I might have cheated....okay I did cheat.... I had Nyama choma and no it did not taste a magical as I thought in fact it just tasted different and boy did a have a serious series of diarrhea the following morning. My first thought was that themeat might have been bad but given the fact that nobody else was experiencing this I am reluctantly going to admit that my stomach might be rejecting meat. Five days down the line and i am still experiencing constant stomach aches.

Not my very best week since alot of things were not going as planned but I got to learn a lot of things and I am glad my final week of June is starting on a higher much better note. +ve vibes only ☺☺

Week 4;

I would most Honestly love to continue with the diet coz I am not a quitter but I can not loose one more Kg and I really can not risk my body turning against meat completely.

I am working on quitting junk foods for the sole reason that I value my health so I might not be eating out as much as I used to ( bank account leaps with joy). I am actually quite fond of my cooking at this point. Therefore, I will be adding milk into my diet and having chicken and meat each once a week at most..
Does anybody else notice that honey has a little too much sugar? Or that Nyama choma is a little too greasy? no? okay.

Note that, my body adapts to new things little faster so your experience might be slightly different from mine, ie; might take longer to show results.
How I will add on weight I still do not know but I am most definitely eating healthier and the best part of it is, I feel so comfortable with it and I don't miss the big square burger as much I thought I would. I am yet to have Ice cream for the first time in long time next week. I wonder if it will taste different.

Will i transform to vegan-ism?
Is that even grammatically correct?? i already answered this though.

  4. actually they taste just like regular cupcakes since they are regular cupcakes. what makes them different is that she uses other ingredients instead of things like butter and milk.

  6. I don't know if i should clap for you or throw you a mini diet party hahaha, I'm glad you stuck it out, I'm sorry you lost weight but diets do that. once you stop however the weight will come back , but since you're adopting a healthy eating strategy it will be good weight, and yes i suggest you do work out, its the only to maintain your weight, i also suggest you up your meal intake by eating small portions of food severally through out your day, this way you can have better control over your weight, you look gorgeous still and i'm super proud of you.♥
