The shift dress was quite popular in the 1920s during the shift culture. Coco Chanel came up with this design as way to redefine female shape and promote female independence and modernity. This particular one with geometric details and puff sleeves does it for me.
You know how sometimes you need to reach into your wardrobe and pull out a playful piece that releases your inner flapper the shift dress is the perfect choice. It's perfect for every body type as it de-emphasizes the waist and draws attention from the tummy.
It is very flattering to ladies with full hips and gives an illusion of fuller hips to ladies with a slimmer build.
I absolutely love this particular piece because of the flattering neckline, the square shape shows off the collar bone and adds solidity to fine boned women.
I would recommend wearing your hair in an up-do to balance out the horizontal line.
pick one with a length you are comfortable in and a detailed hem would be an added bonus to ladies who are insecure about their midsection as it draws away attention.
keep accessories to a minimum as this piece speaks for itself.
